Wow you guys, I'm so sorry I've been incommunicado lately. It seems that I get on this blog kick, with tons of momentum, posting a lot, and then....nothing...crickets...tumbleweeds blowing right on through. I wonder why that is? Does anyone else out there struggle with the same thing?
I've also been working a lot and trying to balance that with housework and catching up with neglected friends and projects...on top of fighting off a cold and helping to nurse hubs through his. So it's been a tad crazy around here. :-)
Well I finally got bit by the blogging bug today so figured I'd post while I have a little motivation. It doesn't hurt that the project is super cute!
My jewelry box has been a nightmare for the last few years. I can't find anything let alone try and accessorize. I hadn't really thought much about it, and just kind of left things in every room of the house...making the issue worse! So it was off to Pinterest I went. I mulled over the problem on various pinning sessions, combining a few different things I liked in my head. And viola, the organizer was born.
Now it's not exactly what I thought up in my head, and the paint job sucks. However it's 100% better than it used to be!
I bought a cork board at hobby lobby and some paint and paper to decorate with. Thinking that I'd make it look super cool. Well super cool it's not, but alright definitely. Functional is what I was going for. I pinned some white thumb tacks up for my earrings and necklaces. The great thing about this is that I can always add some more pins if I run out of space!
I then whipped out the hot glue gun and attached some twine to the top for a hanger. It came with mounting hardware, but I wasn't feeling it, and wanted something to offset the purple, and add a little extra storage for the hair glam I've been aquiring lately. (ps...I've realized that I'm a super huge purple whore, but there are no support groups for this kind of thing...so I'll just have to deal with it as best I can...) So I glued it on the back and it provided a hanger as well as the space to clip these things to it. Up where I can see them and chose daily which one I want to decorate my hair with.
I did the same with the bottom leaving some hanging space for earrings I don't wear a lot, but still want out where I can see them. (And a few bracelets)
I did the same on both sides with the twine for extra hanging/clipping space.
This really frees up the jewelry box now. I have in there the little stud type earrings that wouldn't fit on the board, and seasonal ones that I don't need out to see everyday. Also my rings and stuff aren't covered up with piles of necklaces and haphazardly dumped hair glam.
Hubby came into the bathroom as I was hanging it up and said "It's a piece of art for the bathroom!" I don't know if I'd go that far, but it sure makes my accessorizing life a lot easier.
Yes, I'm a girl and there is girl stuff on the counter...look past it and just ooh and ahh at the pretty jewelry holder. Also, don't judge on the lameness of my accessories...they're a little on the juvineille side...but I'm working on it!
PS. It snowed here this morning! Just a skiff, and it melted off by noon, but that made me really happy! :-) I am loving this time of year so much!
