Featured Blogger Week: Kicked off with Heather @ Family Volley

Happy Monday everyone! So today I'm so thrilled to tell you about what's coming up this week! I'm having a "featured bloggers" and giveaway week! Each day from today through Saturday I'll be featuring a brand new blogger. You'll get to know them, see what awesome things they create, and then we'll have a giveaway from each one! How awesome is that!?!

Make sure to come everyday to get to know these fantastic bloggers and enter into their fun giveaways.

Each giveaway will run for a week, so there's plenty of time to get those entries in. I'll be announcing each winner as the week draws to a close. Make sure you don't miss out!

So without further ado, we're kicking off our featured blogger week with Heather from "The Family Volley".

Take it away Heather!

How fun to be here on Quilted Euphoria. Amber has a great week planned and I am glad I can be a part.

My name is Heather and I blog at Family Volley. I am a wife, mother of 4, and an adjunct faculty member at Brigham Young University where I teach students the principles behind successful families.

Our Family

I also write Family Volley. It is an advice column for families. Want to know how to stop temper tantrums, what to talk about when you go to dinner with your spouse (besides talking about the kids), how to put the spark back in your marriage, how to get your kids to eat their vegetables, and the perfect game or activity for your family to play tonight? Well, Family Volley is the place.

I started Family Volley three years ago. I couldn't shake the feeling that I needed to find a way to share many of the things I teach students at BYU, and get it out to a bigger audience, a blog seemed like a great way to do that.

Every Friday on Family Volley, I feature a new game or activity. Readers love the fresh new ideas.

Last November I finally put together a book, based on the activities featured on Friday's, filled with a years worth of games and activities for families. Games that are unique and perfect for families and groups of people, no matter their age.

A few other things about me. My favorite blog post on Family Volley, as of late, is "The Day I Got My Groove Back". (You should read it. It is a dirty post. Dirty in a "G" Rated way of course.)

I will always choose Chocolate over Vanilla when it comes to ice cream. But given more options, I will almost always choose fruity over chocolate in general. Yep, I will choose Jelly Belly's over a Chocolate Bar any day. Jelly Belly's are my favorite. Bubble gum is the best, then cotton candy and tutti fruitti. Yum!

If I could snap my fingers and be anywhere right now, where would it be? That is a tough question. First I would say Germany because my husband spent two years there before we were married and it had a huge influence on him. I would love to go and see the land he loves.

I also love Paris and Washington D.C. But...one of my very favorite places in the world is La Jolla, California. I grew up there and if I could snap my fingers right now, I would want to be on La Jolla Shores with my family.

My must have accessory when I leave the house? I would have to say is my phone. I am not obsessed with it, but when I leave the house, it gives me security to know I can not just make calls, but find directions, check email, and look things up when I need to.

Also about me, I wish I could dance. In my mind I am a great dancer, but that doesn't seem to translate to real life. I also "used" to speak French. Anyone else "used" to speak a foreign language? I took French for 6 years and I am saddened to say I have lost most of it.

I also understand how hard it can be to be a wife and mother, a sister and friend. I know from studying textbooks, and also from being a mom myself. There are many days when I teach something to my students at school and then come home and do exactly what I told them not to do. Raising strong families is a test of our patience and faith and endurance and love. Family Volley is here to help your family relationships become stronger. Come on over, there is a great, supportive community and I love making new friends.
