Slacker Quilt

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! :-) It's good to be back in the blogging world. I've missed ya'll!

Okay so many of you don't remember the quilt that I started right after moving into our new house in March. I had started cutting out the pieces for it back in Nashville and then in the move things got lost, and I resumed in March. The colors were perfect to match our new carpeting and I felt it was meant to be!

The top went together pretty fast, and then up on the frame it went. I was going to attempt the impossible. I was going to try and hand quilt it! *gasp* Yeah that didn't work out. So there it sat. And sat. And sat some more. Fortunately I've converted the back half of our living room into my sewing/project/insanity room, and the quilt frame being up really didn't interfere with the day to day functionality involved in getting around our house. (Likely one of the many contributing factors to why this thing has been sitting on the frame for eight months)

So the day after Christmas dawned, and I don't know, something about the way it was sitting there mocking me (and my distinct lack of something to do now that the craziness wore off) just made me feel like getting it done. So off I went.

It got tied instead of quilted as was the plan originally...and it kinda looks weird with some quilting and some tying. Ya know what? It's mine, and if someone wants to make fun of it, I'll let 'em!

Don't look too closely you'll see all the mistakes, but what do you think?
Measures 60''X71''
On the bed...
Folded up all pretty like...
Has already been washed and dried in my house once to get the dust and fur off of it.
(Did I mention it sat on the frame for eight months?)
A close up of the pretty thing...
And to my embarassment you can see the original hand quilted stitches in the bottom...I know it's white trash...we'll call it character?

So what do you think? I think I'll throw it up on the Etsy store and see if there are any takers. If not, then it's another quilt to keep us warm this winter!

(And heaven knows we can use as many quilts as we can, it's BRRR!)

The important thing is it got done ;) I have a quilt that's started and has been sitting in a box untouched for over a year. It's my first one, and so getting to the actual "quilting" which will be tying, scares me a little. I think I should make it my 2012 goal to get it done!

I Lurve this homemade goodness!!!! I agree w/ another commentor, at least it is done! I started a quilt when my fave cuz became preg. She doesnt know I started it, very smooth move on my part if I say so myself,so she obviously does not know it is NOT complete! I cross stitched 9 panels of nursery rhymes, sewed them to the trim, connecting strips, have it batted & the back is pinned on but I cannot get the darn thing in my sewing machine to quilt it together!! My cuz's daughter is in HS now!! Oh well, maybe by the time my DD decides to start a family it will go to my first gran.
We'll see!!! Good job on finishing what you started, regardless of the time frame! TFS!! ChelleBee
